The New ‘Realistic’ Barbie Dolls

Barbie has always been a pretty amazing career girl – she’s had such a fantastic CV, being an astronaut in the 60s and running for US President back in the 90s.  I’m not sure what it says about my ambition as a little girl that my favourites were Loving You Barbie and Crystal Barbie, but in my defence I did grow up in the 80s, the era of Dallas and Dynasty!

Barbie’s body has been the subject of scrutiny for years but now Mattel have introduced three new body shapes.  The new tall, curvy and petite dolls make up 33 new dolls in the Fashionistas range.  Good news – it’s about time I think!

Pretty Muddy

This month, the Fit for Keeps girls (+ friends!) signed up for this year’s Pretty Muddy for Cancer Research UK.  We’ll be getting down and dirty in July to raise money and have a lot of fun.  Jen’s planning a Tuffit bootcamp to get us ready for the big day.

Chocolate Custard

Ok, so this is a naughty one and may require an extra Tuffit session to work it off, but I am so happy to have discovered this. My 5 year old is intolerant to dairy and eggs (for me it’s just dairy) so there are some things that we have to live without.  However, I’ve discovered Oatly (milk alternative made from Oats) and they make an Oatly Cream which makes amazing chocolate custard.

Here’s my recipe, perfect for puddings after Sunday’s Roast:

250ml Carton of Oatly
10g Cornflour
10g Cocoa
40g Caster Sugar
20g Dairy Free Spread

Melt the dairy free spread over a medium heat in a saucepan and mix in the cornflour, cocoa and caster sugar to make a chocolatey paste.  Gradually add the full carton of Oatly, keep whisking until the paste is dissolved and the mixture is thick like custard!  Delicious on chopped bananas for a quick dessert.

Serves 4-6 depending on how much exercise you’re willing to do to earn it!

That should keep me going until the spring!
